Best Microphones and Webcams for Recording?

Hi all, I'm looking at purchasing some microphones that can be used for recording audio when doing screencasts here at our library. I've been creating tutorials using Adobe Captivate and a blue snowball usb mic, but am planning to do some staff training on things like Jing and Captivate in the future so that more of our librarians can be involved in tutorial creation. Headsets make sense, and I'm also thinking that a webcam/mic would be good so that librarians can utilize the camera for webconferencing in the future. Does anyone have strong opinions/recommendations on webcams and mics for screencasting and webconferencing? If so, let me know! The webcam comes with a microphone, but I don't like the quality. I have used both a MAC (with Jing Pro), and a PC (with Adobe Captivate 4 and Adobe Presenter 7)....the Presenter is great since the size of the file does not seem to be an issue... Lauren,I've been using a headset and a webcam/microphone from Logitech. The webcam is the Quickcam Pro 9000 http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/webcam_communications/webcams/&cl=us,en# The headset is either the ClearChat Stereo or Celar Chat Style, which uses the standard inputs for mic and audio (Non-USB) http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/webcam_communications/internet_headsets_phones/&cl=us,en The headest works very well with Captivate. I've noticed that after calibrating the mic in Captivate, it does a good job of recording narration. I record audio slide by slide, after grabbing my screen captures. When recording for each slide, I usually wait a few seconds before speaking. This gives Captivate time to calibrate for any white noise. You'll see the volume level bottom out after a few seconds, and then start speaking. Recordings are very clear. I've used the webcam for webinars and meetings using Adobe Connect. Picture quality is very good. I still use the headset for audio, but the built in mic can handle the load. It just picks up a lot more of the ambient noise. That can be problematic if your volume is too high, resulting in clipping and scratchy audio for your audience. But testing your settings and a few tweaks is usually enough to get decent quality out of the webcam mic.
